Welcome to Eternal Path! This week, we feature an update on recent attacks on Australian Hindu temples, a meme around cow-protection, and an aesthetic!
Hinduphobia Highlight: Attacks on Australian Temples
There has been a spate of attacks on Hindu temples in Australia, most likely tied to supporters of the radical Sikh separatist movement known as Khalistanis.
January 12 - A BAPS temple in the Melbourne area was defaced with graffiti, praising the dead terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale (Khalistani figure), and with anti-India like “Hindustan Murdabad” (“Death to India”)
January 16 - A Shiva Vishnu temple in the Melbourne area was vandalized with graffiti. The community largely serves Eelam Tamil refugees who fled the Sri Lankan civil war.
January 23 - An ISKCON temple in the Melbourne area was desecrated with graffiti saying “Khalistan Zindabad” (‘Long live Khalistan’), “Hindustan Murdabad”, and “Saint Bhindranwale is Martyr”.
For our Australian readers, we encourage you to hold your politicians and local law enforcement responsible for punishing culprits and sending a strong message to Khalistani lunatics. Hindu temples should always maintain communication and relations with law enforcement in their respective areas. The Hindu American Foundation Temple Safety and Security Guide is also a useful resource we encourage all readers to be familiar with.
