This week we feature: short reads (forms of Goddess Parvati, Persian-origin Hindu priestly community, and exposing the anti-Hindu group SAHI), and an infographic on Ashtanga Yoga, and an aesthetic!
Reading Highlights: Short Reads
📚 The Hindu Aesthetic blog has a very interesting post on Dhumavati, the seventh of the dasamahavidyas (10 forms of Goddess Parvati). The post delves into the stories around her, her role in Hindu cosmology, and provides (true to the name) some great aesthetic depictions of her. If you like what the blog is doing, support them at their Patreon as well.
📚 Vriitrahan has a great new post on the community of Maga or Shakadviipiya Brahmins of Bihar, a community of Hindus that actually originated in Iran! In this post he delves into both Sanskrit and Greek texts (being fluent in both) in order to provide references from historical and itihasa texts that discuss the origin and history of this community.
📚@HinduOnCampus have a great thread exposing the Hinduphobic group called SAHI which ran the “Holi against Hindutva” campaign. Available in thread form here and in single-page form here.
Yoga Highlight: Ashtanga Infographic
Aesthetic: Baby Lord Krishna
