Initiative Highlight: Gruha-Gurukulam
Indic Academy - whose work we have highlighted and linked to in previous issues - has kicked off a new initiative called Graha-Gurukulam recently. It is meant to allow teachers who teach the shastras to rent space to run gurukuls near their homes, thereby facilitating the teaching of students. Gurukuls are an ancient and important tradition for Hindus, being the best mechanism for imparting spiritual knowledge between generations.

History Highlight: 1971 Bengali Hindu Genocide
The war for Bangladesh independence in 1971 included a genocide of Hindus by the Pakistani army and local Muslim collaborators. Millions of Hindus were killed or forced to flee, and hundreds of thousands of rapes occurred as well. The 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence say many Hindu organizations commemorate the Hindus who died during the war or as a result of the genocide. We recommend reading these articles to understand the context.
